My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge

Hello! I am enjoying sharing some of my life and my family with you. This is Pablo Ivan Jefte de la Cruz Yat. I was born on January 17th, 2018. I am 6 years old, and I enjoy playing soccer with my brothers. I love the color blue and cats. My favorite food is fried chicken. I am in kindergarten. I live with my parents, five brothers and one sister. Mi father´s name is Pablo de la Cruz Jimon, and he does not work. He suffers from uric acid. He already visited a doctor but there was no improvement. He is under a natural treatment. My mother´s name is Juana Yat Jimon. She stays at home and takes care of my father and us. She raises some hens and sells them to earn some money to cover our expenses. We are members of Methodist Church. Thanks to God, we live in own our house. It has three rooms; we use two of them as bedrooms and the other one as a kitchen. It is made of adobe walls, tin sheet roof and concrete floor. We have electricity and running water. My mother pays for these services. We have some hens and cows. We live in an area without many opportunities to get a stable job. So, for this reason we have many needs such as groceries. I ask for your prayers for God to be our provider. I go to the feeding program accompanied by my mother and siblings. We walk around 30 minutes to get there. A teacher of the LW evangelism team collected this information and I hope you find it interesting.

In Jesus name,

Pablo Ivan Jefte de la Cruz Yat
