My Story

My name is Rufina Ester Esperanza Ruiz Gomez and I am pretty excited to tell you about my life through this letter. I am 17 years old and currently, I keep busy helping my mother by doing the household chores. I live along with my parents and siblings in a beautiful house. This is made of block, concrete floor, and tin sheet roof. This has two rooms and a separated kitchen. Our home has electricity, but no running water. Nevertheless, we get it with a hose from a nearby river. I love my parents because they make their best for our family. My mother works hard cleaning our home and taking care of my siblings. On the other hand, my father strives a lot to cover our family’s needs by working in his barbershop. He rents a local in Zacualpa and every day, he opens his business. My family and I spend great moments when we go to “Aguas Calientes” and eat our meals in the town. Last Christmas, I enjoyed it so much along with them because my mother made tasty tamales (a typical dish) that we loved. Let me tell you that we are members of a Christian Church called Assembly of God which is a forty-five-minute walk from our home.

When Covid-19 spread all over the world, we were not able to attend it, and that made us feel a little bit sad. However, we took special time to pray every day together. Despite the virus, we are all in good health. However, my father has not had many clients as he used to have. Our principal needs are corn and beans to feed ourselves. Nevertheless, God has provided us with his mercy through good-hearted people, such as Living Water because they have given us grocery bags which have been a blessing for us. So, we are so grateful to all the staff, directors, and you for all. During this hard pandemic time, I missed attending the feeding program because I enjoyed so much the tasty food that the staff served to my friends and me. Fortunately, the feeding program is open again. I usually walk five minutes to get there. Finally, let me tell you that my father provided this information to an evangelism team member to you. This is all for now, but before saying goodbye, I want to let you know that I love you so much.

In Jesus´ name,

Rufina Ester Esperanza Ruiz Gomez
