My Story

Before anything else, I want to express my gratitude for taking the time to read my letter. My name is Tomas Alberto Chingo Sac, and I hope you are doing well. I am 14 years old, and I am a seventh-grade student. Currently, I go to Telesecundaria to receive classes and hand in homework on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Nevertheless, this study method is affecting my learning because it is difficult for me to complete my tasks. In my free time, I work as a farmer to help my family financially. Let me tell you that my mother raises domestic animals, such as cows and hens to help my father with the expenses. My father has worked hard in the United States for the last seven years. We do not know what he does for a living, but he struggles to cover the necessities of our family – we are in touch with him. However, the current world situation is affecting our economy because my father does not earn enough. Thankfully, my whole family and I are in good health, but our principal necessities are clothes and shoes. I love my family so much and try to spend time with them. We sometimes eat delicious snacks together. For Christmas, we usually spend beautiful moments preparing tasty food, such as “tamales” (this is a typical dish made of dough, tomato sauce, spices, and meat wrapped in large banana leaves).

My family and I are members of the Assembly of God Church, but we could not attend it for some months because of the pandemic, and we felt sad. However, this is open again and works as usual. The church is an hour away from my home. I want to tell you that we live in our own house. The walls and roof are made of concrete blocks, and the floor is granite. Our home has three rooms, a separate kitchen, electricity and running water. Fortunately, this is in good condition. As you know, I could not attend the feeding program for a long time because the staff wanted to keep everybody safe from the virus. What I really missed from going there were the tasty lunches that the cooks prepare. God has always been merciful with us because we received support from Living Water in the most demanding moments. Fortunately, the program is open again. This is a 30-minute walk from my home. Finally, I want to tell you that my mother gave this information to an evangelism team member to share with you my last news. I leave you for now, but I want to tell you that I am deeply grateful to the Lord because you have blessed and supported my family and me through Adopt a Child. May God multiply all your goods and pour out lots of blessings upon you!

From the bottom of my heart,

Tomas Alberto Chingo Sac
