My Story

Hello! How are you? I hope everything is running well with you. I am Mario De la Cruz Grave, and I am 11 years old. I am in 4th grade this year, and I am receiving classes from 8:00 am to 10:00 am every day. I am doing a good job at school. I help with some chores at home in my free time. I missed the feeding program’s lunches, but I am happy now because the program has opened its doors again; I walk for 30 minutes to arrive there. My father is a farmer and day laborer, and he goes to cut sugar cane at the coast during the harvest time. My mother dedicates her time to the family and home. We sometimes share a snack as a family, and we enjoy this time. We have been celebrating Christmas in spite of the pandemic, and we usually prepare “tamales”.

We attend Prince of Peace Church, and it is located 30 minutes from our house. In spite of the virus, we were having services, but the doors were closed. We live in a house that belongs to my mother’s sister-in-law, and we do not pay any type of rent. The house has one room and a separated kitchen, and it is made of adobe with a tile roof and dirt floor; the roof is not in good condition because the water gets into the room when it rain. We do not have running water and electricity. We use flashlights at night and get the water from a well. We were economically affected by this pandemic since we are a humble family; currently, we are in need of groceries and clothes. I thank God because my family is healthy. I tell you that my mother helped me to give this information to an Evangelism teacher. I hope you like my letter.

Cordially yours

Mario De la Cruz Grave
