My Story

I am Rosa Carolina De La Cruz Hernandez, and it is a pleasure for me to greet you through this. I hope you and your family are doing well. I am seventeen years old. I do not attend school due to the lack of resources. So, I help my mom with the household work and taking care of my siblings and tending domestic animals. The time the feeding program was closed due to the pandemic, I missed a lot the tasty lunch from it. I am very happy because the program is open again. I get there in thirty minutes by walking. My stepfather works farming the land, and he also travels to the coast to pick coffee grains to support my family financially. My mom stays home taking care of us and raising some domestic animals to sell. Occasionally, we get something to eat and spend a good time together. We usually celebrate Christmas by making chicken soup or recado de pollo (includes tomato sauce with spices and pieces of chicken). Currently, we are attending the Catholic Church that is located thirty-five minutes away from home. The time it was closed due to the pandemic, our services took place closed-door with due care.

We own a small and humble house with one room. We cook our meals within the same room we use to sleep. The house walls are made of wooden boards which are moth-eaten, the roof is made of tin sheet which is in poor condition, and the floor is of dirt. It does not have electricity, so we use candels to light up at night, and we get water from a spring source for we do not have running water. I want you to know, pandemic affected my family’s economy. Everything rose in price, and food supplies and clothing are a greatest need at home. That’s why, I thank to the feeding program for the grocery bags we received in that difficult time we went through. It was all a great help for my family and me. I thank to all the ones who provided for us this support. I bless each one in the name of the Lord for being so good and generous towards us. Thank you very much! May God pay you back greatly. I want to ask you to please pray for us to not have lack of money to get clothing. Thank you very much! For now, we are all doing well, thankfully. Lastly, I want you to know, my mom gave this information to an Evangelism team member to share with you my last news. I was glad to get in touch with you again. I hope to hear from you very soon.

Kind regards,

Rosa Carolina De La Cruz Hernandez
