My Story

This is Fernando, and I am glad to greet you affectionately. I hope you and your family are doing well. This year I turned sixteen years old. I no longer attend school, so I am working as a day laborer to provide for my family financially instead. The time the feeding program was closed due to the pandemic, I missed a lot delicious food from it. Thank God, it is open again. For me to get there, it takes twenty-five minutes by walking. My father continues to do farming work to provide my family financially. He also grows herbs to sell. Most of the time, my mom stays home raising domestic animals to sell then. Thanks to it, she provides economically for us. Occasionally, my family gets something to eat, so we take this time to talk and share altogether. We did celebrate Christmas by making tamales to eat with our family only. At the moment, we are attending Church of Christ, located five minutes away from home. The time the church was closed due to the pandemic, our services took place closed door with due care, thankfully.

We own two-room house with separate kitchen. The house is made of mud-brick, dirt floor and tin sheet roof which is in poor condition and it needs to be changed. It has electricity and running water. Food supplies is a basic need at home, for that reason, I thank to the feeding program for the grocery bags we received due to the pandemic. Pandemic did not affect my family much, because my siblings are in the United States, so they helped us. I thank everyone who provided this support to us. I pray God to bless each one of you greatly! Thank God, my family is doing well, and so am I, currently. Lastly, I want you to know, my mom gave this information to an Evangelism team member to share with you my last news. I leave you for now. I hope to hear from you soon. Take care!

Kind regards,

Fernando Vicente Calachij Hernandez.
