Hello! My name is Elmer Antonio. I am 9 years old and I attend 2nd grade. I receive classes 3 days per week and I give my homework to my teacher on the days I go to school. Unfortunately, my learning is low because my teacher only gives me a short explanation of the lessons due to lack of time of classes. I do not have my father´s support because he abandoned us years ago. Since then, my mother struggles to cover our home expenses; she works by washing clothes or making tortillas for some neighbors. In addition, we receive support from two of my sisters; one works in a tortilla shop and the other tends a store. Both work in Guatemala City and every month send us financial support.
The covid-19 pandemic has affected my studies because I have not been learning very much, and I get disappointed when I do not know how to do the homework. Thank God, during this pandemic situation, we have received support from my school and from the feeding program. We are so grateful to Living Water / Adopt A Child who helped us with grocery bags. We received the help when we needed it most because my mother does not earn very much. Thank you very much for all the support during this pandemic situation. Thank God, the covid-19 has not affected us so far. However, I want to ask for prayer for my mother who is suffering from frequent headaches. We attend Prince of Peace Church on Monday and Wednesday. I want to let you know that a member of the AAC team called my mother, Rosalina Garcia by phone to get this updated information since the feeding program is still closed due to the pandemic. I send many hugs and I hope to hear from you soon. Every blessing for you!
Lots of love,
Elmer Antonio Garcia Gomez
