My Story

Hello! I thank you for taking time to read my personal information; God bless you. I am Juana Morente Benito. I am already 13 years old. Thanks to God, my family and I are in good health. This year, I am attending 4th grade, and I am receiving classes at school all week. I have been striving to go ahead in my studies, and while I was studying from home, it was very difficult for me since I did not learn all the content that my school grade demands. I usually help with the chores at home and look after our domestic animals. During the time the feeding program was closed due to the pandemic, we were blessed with food parcels, and we were very happy to know that Living Water did not leave us alone. I live 10 minutes from the program, and I thank God because the program is open again. My father usually works as a farmer and day laborer, and in addition, he goes to cut sugar cane on the coast during the harvest season. He does his best to cover our home needs. My mother is a housewife, but she tries to contribute to the income and raises and sells domestic animals.

We live in our own property; there are 4 rooms made of adobe and tin sheets roof with a dirt floor. The kitchen is separate. We get water from a well and use a solar panel to get electricity. The house condition is good for now. My family and I celebrate Christmas by cooking “tamales y ponche” (homemade food and hot fruit punch) and visiting our close relatives. I usually share a good time with my mother and siblings but not with my father because most of the time he is working. We attend Church of Christ. We had services at church during the pandemic time, but behind closed doors. Thankfully, we were not affected by the pandemic since my father had a job. We are very grateful to LW for the groceries because it was a big help and savings to my parents. Our principal need at home is groceries for now. In closing, I want to let you know that the LW team called us and asked for this updated information, so my father provided it to them over the phone. I hope to hear from you soon. Every blessing for you!

Hugs with much love,

Juana Morente Benito
