Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years, electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
Hello! I am very happy to share my information through this. My name is Israel Fernando Tzoy de la Cruz. My birth date is May 20th, 2019. I was born in Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. I will turn 6 years old this May and fortunately, I am a healthy boy. I am attending Pre-kindergarten, and this is my first year at school. I like to play football and with my toy cars. My favorite color is blue and the animal I like the most is the dog. I love eating fried chicken. I live with my parents; one brothers and four sisters. Thankfully, my whole family is doing well. I am very happy to be part of the feeding program and I arrive there by walking in 30 minutes.
My mother´s name is Estela de la Cruz Suar. She takes care of the house and also raises hens and turkeys. My father´s name is Pedro Tzoy Gomez. Unfortunately, he is not able to work because he was diagnosed with brain cancer. At the beginning, he had surgery on his head because of a tumor he had. The operation was in February 2024 and a week later, the doctors talked with my parents because they found that my father has brain cancer. This situation has been so difficult for my family, especially for my father who has been in bed since a few months ago. Due to a lack of resources, he is not under medical treatment and only takes natural medicines. However, it does not help him very much. We are very thankful because in spite of my father´s illness, we have seen God´s faithfulness toward us through kind people from our church, relatives and others who are blessing us with offerings and groceries. Could you please include my family in your prayers, for my father´s health and our daily provision?
We are members of the Assembly of God Church. My father owns the house in which we live; my grandma and one uncle also live there. There are two adobe rooms; the roof is made of tin sheets and it has a dirt floor. The kitchen is separated. We have running water and electricity services; my mother and relatives contribute to pay for the bills. As a family, our greatest needs are groceries and clothes. Thank you very much for reading my information. May God bless you!
With much love,
Israel Fernando Tzoy de la Cruz
