My Story

Hello, my name is Marta Julia Portuguez Benito. I am 14 years old, and I am in 5^th grade. I go to school in the mornings, and in the afternoons, I help at home with the housework and chores. My mother’s name is Francisca Benito Garcia. She is a stay-at-home mom. She takes good care of our home, but she also goes out to work as a farmer sometimes. She also raises chickens and turkeys to sell so she can make some extra money. My mom works very hard to provide for my family and support our economic needs. My father’s name is Santos Portuguez Riz. Unfortunately, he abandoned my family 13 years ago and is no longer in my life. We also grow corn at home for our own personal use as a family. I love going to the feeding program each week to eat a delicious meal. I am very grateful for the food they provide, as it is a huge blessing for me and my family. My favorite meal there is the fried chicken. At Christmas, we do a celebration at the program, and it is a very special time for me. I love the whole activity, and I look forward to it each year. My family goes to a Catholic Church. My mother is very faithful and is sure of her salvation through Christ. Unfortunately, she suffers from nerve gastritis, but she is on medicine to be treated for this. I hope you will keep her health in your prayers.
