My Story

I am Sandra Abigail Gonzalez Asencio, and I am happy to greet you through this. I hope you are fine. I am ten years old. This year I am in fourth grade, and taking face-to-face classes at school twice per week. I use study guides to do schoolwork and I give it to the teacher every week. Learning well has turned difficult to me, because the teacher does not explain in a good way. The thing I missed a lot from the feeding program was, praying for food and learning how to wash my hands. For me to get there, it takes fifteen minutes by walking. To earn a living, my father works in a printing shop to cover our needs. My mom usually goes to the market to sell “dobladas de papa” – these are folded fried tortillas filled with mashed potato, added with red sauce, cheese and parsley. For us to spend time together, we go out and eat an ice cream. We do not usually celebrate Christmas. It is a normal day to us. At the moment, we are members in Ebenezer Church which is located ten minutes away from home. The time the church was closed due to the pandemic, we were in peace because our faith was fixed in God.

We rent one-room house with separate kitchen. The house’s walls and roof are made of tin sheets and ceramic floor. It has running water and electricity. The house is in good condtion. Pandemic did affect our economy. My mom did not have enough work, and my stepfather was suspended from work. We limited ourselves in expenses. As food supplies, and money to pay the rent of the house and the study expenses is a greatest need at home, I thank to the feeding program for the grocery bags we received in that time. I thank for all the support we have received through those grocery bags. They contained all the necessary for us to be nourished. Thank you very much! For now, my family and I are all doing well, thankfully. To finish, I want you to know, my mom gave this information in person, to an Evangelism team member who visited us at home, to share with you my last news. May God bless you and your family. I say good bye to you for now.

Lots of affection,

Sandra Abigail Gonzalez Asencio
