My Story

It is a beautiful day to greet you, and I hope you and your loved ones are doing great! Praise the Lord my family and I attend Spring of Life Christian Church, and we go twice per week. This time LW staff gave us encouraging words to continue seeking God, and we appreciate it so much. I am so thankful to God because my family and I are healthy. My father is Pedro de la Cruz de la Cruz, and he is 46 years old. He works packing onions in Guatemala City, and he comes to visit us every three months. My mother is Manuela Gutierrez Ventura, and she is 36 years old. She stays busy with the housework and watching over my siblings and me. She also raises hens and turkeys. As a family, we grow corn and black beans just for our consumption.

This is Mariano De la Cruz Gutierrez, and I am a 10-year-old boy. I am in fourth grade; I like to attend school and play with my classmates. My father is the one who covers the school supplies, but now, everything is expensive, and sometimes, he does not have enough money for school. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect, and I would like to learn to speak Spanish because I would like to communicate better with other people. When I grow up, I would like to be a policeman. The sport I like the most is football. I feel so happy when my birthday comes because I receive some gift. For New Year I meet up with my family, and we enjoy delicious “tamales” (a typical dish). My mother prepares a delicious oatmeal, and it is my favorite beverage. We are so grateful to you and Living Water for the tasty meals; it is a big blessing for me and my siblings. We are in need of groceries, and corn. So long. May God bless you greatly!

Huge hugs,

Mariano De la Cruz Gutierrez
