My Story

Hello! My name is Eljon Pura. I am sixteen years old and my birthday is in July. I am doing well and in good health. My favorite color is blue, like the sky, and my dream for the future is to become a police officer so I can protect people and keep my community safe. I attend the tenth grade at school, where I spend the first part of the day studying and working hard to do my best. I truly enjoy learning, and I also enjoy sports. Physical education which is a school subject has become one of my favorite ones at present and this is because we can play at school football, volleyball, do running, and lots of other games. After school, my friends and I usually play football for a few hours. We play on the roads near our homes, and after the game, we enjoy walking around, talking, and laughing together. The time I share with my friends is very special to me, and I always look forward to it. We encourage one another and have a lot of fun together. Spending time with them helps me relax after a long day at school, and I value their friendship deeply. At home, I try my best to help my parents with whatever they ask me to do. I help my mother by chopping and preparing firewood, and I also take care of some of the shopping. I live in one of the villages surrounding Pogradec, and my family consists of five members. They are my father, my mother, my brother, my sister, and me. My brother is older and my sister is younger. They both attend school and are also part of the Adopt a Child program. When we study together, my older brother helps me review my lessons and checks my homework to make sure it is properly done. We often study as a team, which makes learning easier and more enjoyable. My father owns a minibus and works as a driver, transporting passengers from the village to the town. He is hired and brings in a steady income to support our family. Since we live in the village, we have land, but my parents are not very involved in agriculture because the job my father has keeps him busy. Even so, my mother works on the land, planting vegetables for our family to eat. She has recently planted peppers, tomatoes, beans, onions, and other vegetables, and I help her whenever I can. These homegrown foods provide what we need without having to buy them, which helps us save money and live more simply. Only my father has a full-time job, and even though our income is low, we are not too poor compared to many other families in our village. We are very thankful to the Adopt a Child program for the help we receive both spiritually and physically. My brother, sister, and I receive food packages through the program, and we regularly attend Bible classes, church services, and other activities that the Adopt a Child program organizes for us. These times are full of joy and encouragement, and they help us grow in faith and in kindness toward others. Thank you very much, and may God bless you in great abundance.
