My Story

Hello! My name is Paola Golemi. I am happy to share about myself and what is happening during this year. I am 16 years old and my birthday is in December. I am doing well and in good health. My favorite color is pink and my future dream is to become a teacher. I will start second grade high school on September and have just completed the first grade high school with good evaluation marks. I enjoy learning and my favorite subjects I like to study best are language and literature. Schools close in our country for three months during the summer. I am spending most of my free time reading several books that I have already chosen and borrowed from my friends. Summers are very busy for us who live in the village and deal with agriculture and I am also sharing my part to be of help. I am working together with my parents every morning, collecting medicinal flowers which we sell to shops that collect them and make medicine from them. Besides the medicinal flowers, my parents have planted vegetables in our garden as well as wheat, corn and alfalfa. We keep a cow and for this reason, we need to plant to provide the food it consumes while it is being feed inside the stable. My mother at present takes our cow in the fields to feed it with grass that comes out naturally. Even though my day is busy, I still like to meet with my friends and chat with them. We take short walks or stay in groups while we engage in conversations. I have many good friends to spend the time with and enjoy their company. I live in a village of the community of Prrenjas. We go to this town often since it is not far and there, we also receive governmental services as well as get visits to the hospital and clinics when needed. I have four members in my family who are my parents, older sister and myself. Two of my sisters are grown up and they have left the house, being married. We own land and deal with agriculture, but we gain too less for the living therefore my father has constantly emigrated in Greece to work there for a season or two during the year. He is hired working in agriculture as well as in construction. My father has his own car for transportation using it to travel to Albania and back. We miss him while he works in this country, but on the other hand, we are happy that he can make more income working in emigration. I am thankful to the sponsorship program of Adopt a Child for the help and support offered to me. I frequent the activities of the program and am grateful for the physical and spiritual care provided to us. I receive constantly food packages and enjoy frequenting the church services, Bible classes and the other activities. The Adopt a Child provides free medical and dental care, once every year and I am happy to go to the dentist when the team appoints me to go to the dental clinic. Thank you from my heart for all your care and support. God bless you!
